World Lore
Below is the description of a major country within the fantasy continent of Anadaria.

Relanon
The Relanon Empire is currently the largest and most powerful country in Anadaria. It was originally a medium sized country surrounding Cape Crystal, named for the sunken ship The Lily that carried valuable gems from Sauryn. These will sometimes be found washed up on the shores. Cape Crystal also contains the capital city of Keranan.
The Relanon empire grew to power via a series of conquests urged on by their patron god, Saoin. Known for their soldiers undying loyalty and their pride, Relanon hits hard and fights dirty if it has to.
Relanon is ruled by the Saesan Royal family. Claiming to be the only humans that Saoin blessed, the Saesan family has a long history of assasination in an attempt to grab power. The current ruler is King Peregrin, who has 3 siblings, the late Eleonora and princes Aplomado and Saker. (their parents named their kids after different types of eagles).
Due to issues within the ruling family, there is a large disparity between the wealthy and the poor. People are sometimes imprisoned for little to no reason, and the guards are easy to bribe. The Rulers ignore these issues, reassuring people that those who work hard will get paid better.

The Silver Rule
Across the monarchies of Anadaria, coins will be stamped with the portrait of the current leaders (the exceptions, of course, being elden and sauryn, whose coins contain a raven and an ice crystal, respectively.) In Relanon, it is a common tradition that after the assassination of a previous monarch, they ennact a law or decree that is called ‘the silver rule’. The new ruler, of course, wishes to end circulation of coins bearing there predecessors face. However, the mint cant create enough new coins to replace every individual older piece without melting down those currently in circulation. Therefore, the mint works in small batches of people, replacing those whose coins they can at first, and everyone else who still holds coins must scratch out the face of the previous monarch. Any coins that bear the unmarked face of the predecessor cannot be used. It is called the ‘silver rule’ since people will use silver coins to scratch out the faces on gold coins (since gold is soft), but have trouble scratching the faces of the silver pieces.
